MALT BREAD

Ingredients
12 oz plain flour
1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
1 level teaspoon of baking powder
2 tablespoons of Demerara sugar
4 tablespoons of golden syrup
4 oz of malt extract
1/4 pint of milk
9 oz of sultanas (or you could try a variation with dates – not in the recipe, but my thoughts)
2 eggs
Method
Warm syrup, malt extract and milk to mix and then allow to cool.
Then add the fruit and flour to this mixture along with the eggs and mix all the ingredients well.
Transfer to baking tine and cook in the centre of oven at 300 degrees F for about an hour and a half.
Nice to eat whilst still warm spread with a little butter.
