
Apple and Ginger Buns
Ingredients
8 oz self raising flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon mixed spice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
4 oz margarine or butter
2 oz soft brown sugar
1 egg
5 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon Golden Syrup
2 tablespoons grated apples
2 oz chopped crystallised ginger
Method
Sift flour, salt and spices, rub in fat until the mixture is like breadcrumbs and then add the sugar. Hollow out the centre of the mixture and then add the beaten egg, milk, syrup, apple and chopped ginger and then beat well. After this then half fill greased patty tins with the mixture and bake in a moderate oven at 390 degrees F (185 deg.C) or gas mark 5 for about 20 minutes and then cool on a wire rack. Makes 14
