One thing to remember about
Fairies is that they are more timid that the most timid human. They are as
leery of us as many are of them. NEVER demand that a Fairy show itself.
Instead, invite them to join you. If you have a Fairy ring or area
that you feel they may play, do not set up your spot there. Near to there
is good, so as you are both on common middle ground. At this spot, you
will want to make it inviting to the Fairies. They like to hide under
toadstools and mushrooms. Some of their favorite herbs are Ragwort,
Mistletoe,
Foxglove,
Jasmine, Primrose, Poinsettias, Strawberries, Tulips, Straw, Cowslip, and
Dates.. So, if you wish, plant these near the outer edge, closer to the
Fairy ring, should you have one. Otherwise, closer to the area you suspect
they live/play. They don't like to be thanked or praised for appearing or
leaving signs of having been there. Instead, they LOVE gifts. Their
favorites are butter, milk, bread or cake. They like sweets and the fruits
of the seasons, when in season. They don't actually eat these things, but
draw the essences of the gifts. And they like glittery things. So,
to hang things like small crystal-like soft sounding wind chimes would be
appealing to them. Items that can dangle and reflect the light.
And just a note to remember, don't try to attract them on a Wednesday, as this
is their day off and they probably will not "work" with you. NEVER
lie to them. That makes them angry, and you DON'T want to see one angry.
Because they often envy human life, they are quite willing to help if
asked. But also know that they can be
jealous of a human's world, and will play tricks, steal, and try to cause
distrust in the family they are jealous of. Many times they do not want to
appear as themselves, and will be seen as another form, such as a dog or cat.
They like to ride along with the family pet sometimes. Next time you
see a cat suddenly start chasing its tail, chances are it has a rider.
And also remember, there are good fairies and bad ones. Your best time to
try and attract the good ones is during a Waxing Moon..... when it moves
from the period of the New Moon to the Full Moon. The time that you are
more likely to attract the bad Fairies is during a Waning Moon.... when it
moves from Full Moon to New Moon.
